Short description: The aim of the course is to introduce students with legal aspects concerning supply and the use of veterinary medicines as well as the issue of registration of veterinary pharmaceuticals in EU and Poland. Discussion on topics connected with establishment of withdrawal periods after the administration to food-producing animals of veterinary medicinal products. Discussion on dosage forms of drugs for veterinary use in various animal species and issues of medicated feed.
Full description: Pharmaceutical law. Legislation of veterinary medicinal products. Veterinary prescription. The issue of registration of veterinary pharmaceuticals in EU and Poland. Topics connected with biological and pharmaceutical equivalence. Withdrawal period, studies connected with determination of withdrawal period (NOAEL, ADI, MRL). Solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage forms of drugs for veterinary use in various animal species. Medicated feed, calculation of the content of active substances in medicated feed.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: - indicates the legal aspects concerning supply and the use of veterinary medicines in EU and Poland - describes the properties of different drug forms for veterinary use - describes the principles related to veterinary prescription - knows latin medical nomenclature, related to the raw pharmaceutical materials Skills: - knows the evidence of the usage of medicinal products, accordind to the legislation - properly interprets the responsibility of veterinary surgeon related to the use of medicinal products in animals - finds and uses the informations about the medicinal products authorized in EU - prescibes and uses the medicinal products according to the legislation, including their secure storage and utilization - recommends the dosage forms of drugs according to the route of administration and the species of animal Social competences: - is responsible for the decisions related to the use of medicinal products in animals - can collaborate with other professionals for the protection of public health
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Classes grade 100%→total grade.
